The Good and Bad About the Dallas Real Estate Market

By dallasrealtor | February 18, 2009

Steve Brown’s article in the Dallas Morning News offers a realistic perspective of the housing issue, not only in the Dallas, but also nationwide.  Fortunately, the glaring bad news for the Dallas real estate scene isn’t as bad as some other areas.   “The just-released ‘Housing in Crisis: When Will Metro Markets Recover?’ predicts that nearly 62 percent of the nation’s 381 metro areas will experience double-digit peak-to-trough declines in housing prices.  The report predicts that DFW home prices should bottom out in the third quarter of this year and will be a fraction of the losses nationwide. Nationwide, the analysts expect house prices to fall more than 36 percent from their peak in 2006.”  So, times may be tough, but there may be a glimmer of hope upon the horizon.  Only time will tell what is in store for the Dallas real estate market.
