According to RealtyTrac, January foreclosure filings were down 10% nationally compared to filings in December. Though this is good news for the current situation, filings were still up 18% compared to January of last year. Though the numbers may not be so good, any good news is better than none. Just as the situation of our current economic status did not occur overnight, neither will the solution. It may take a number of small steps just to gain a little ground. Though times are tough here in Dallas, consider some of the areas that are even worse, such as California. Six of the ten worst markets, in terms of foreclosure were in California (Merced, CA, Riverside-San Bernardino, CA, Modesto, CA, Stockton, CA, Vallejo-Fairfield, CA, and Bakersfield, CA). It may take a miracle to recover the market in California, but keep in mind that bad news in other markets have repercussions in every market.
