If you’re considering buying your first home in the Dallas real estate market, then you’re in luck – Dallas is home to one of the strongest economies, best universities and most beautiful scenery in the Lone Star state. However, before you start negotiating the terms of your mortgage, be sure you don’t make any of these classic first-time homeowner mortgage mistakes:
1. Buying Too Much House. If you don’t need all of the space, then don’t buy it. Chances are you’ll end up draining your bank account just to keep up with all of the bills and repairs.
2. Forgetting extra costs. Don’t blow your budget just on the home price alone; keep money tucked aside for repairs, closing fees and any other unexpected costs that might pop up.
3. Don’t take out more mortgage than what you need.
4. Don’t get discouraged. Even if you get rejected on your first mortgage application, keep trying!
