Texas is home to several cities rates the best places to live in America.

In addition, the Dallas/Fortworth (DFW) area offers an incredible variety of communities in which to live, from newer neighborhoods (Plano, Frisco, Allen) to older, more established neighborhoods (Addison, Carrollton, Richardson) some of which were founded in the 19th Century. The Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex is home to booming communities, such as in Frisco and Plano, while also maintaining century old neighborhoods in Carrolton, Richardson, and Addison, just to name a few.

Yet, Richardson, like its many counterparts, has experienced a steady growth of residents who are taking advantage of the family-oriented living. More people have found this city to be a great place to raise a family and young professionals like staying relatively close to the heart of Dallas, while enjoying a larger home with a more suburban feel.
Families and young professionals enjoy living in a Richardson's larger-sized homes and making the more-than-tolerable commute to Dallas just 12 miles south on Highway 75. Like many great Dallas suburbs, Richardson puts on events to tie the community together, including the yearly singer/songwriter festival, Wildflower, which boasts over 50,000 attendees. With single family homes in Richardson averaging under $200,000, this convenient suburb is an easier entry point to Dallas living than some of the newer developments north of Dallas.

Not all cities have highways running through them as Richardson does, but 13 cities can boast that the Dallas' super-speedy Dart Rail System stops in their town. One of these cities is Plano, which is home to the headquarters of JCPenney's, Dr. Pepper, Electronic Data Systems and other corporations so finding a nearby job may not be difficult, but if a daily commute to Other cities, like Frisco, do not boast Dart access, but the well-to-do and fast-growing Frisco is located off of the Dallas North Tollway offering a viable means of getting to Dallas (some 30 miles south) if necessary.

Texas is also home to older neighborhoods that are protected conservation districts because of their historic nature.

When determining a good time to buy a home, consider mortgage interest rate levels, home price levels, and government incentives such as Homebuyer's Tax Credit.
