Would you like to live in one of the best cities in America?
Money Magazine (2008) ranked Carrolton 15th, Richardson, 18th, and Frisco, 38th.
Specifically, Carrolton ranked #15, Richardson ranked #18, and Frisco ranked in at #38 out of 100 according to the 2008 Money Magazine list of Best Places to Live in America. In addition, these cities and surround neighborhoods provide a wide variety of living opportunities for the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex, from more recent developments in Plano, Frisco and Allen to older, more established communities in Addison, Carrollton, and Richardson, some of which date back to the late 1800s.
Yet, Richardson, like its many counterparts, has experienced a steady growth of residents who are taking advantage of the family-oriented living. Located only 12 miles from north of Dallas on US-75, both young professional and families enjoy a rather easy commute into Dallas while still being able to afford a larger home in a suburban setting. The otherwise small town feel also boasts a national and ever-popular music event known as Wildflower, among other arts and entertainment events around the community. With single family homes in Richardson averaging under $200,000, this convenient suburb is an easier entry point to Dallas living than some of the newer developments north of Dallas.
While the highway surrounds Richardson, other popular growing communities, are stops for the Light Rail System, Dart, which connects 13 cities for now, but a major expansion is in the works. One of these is the affluent community of Plano, where many corporations make their headquarters and where Dart transports residents on a 20 mile stress-free commute southbound to downtown Dallas. Other cities, like Frisco, do not boast Dart access, but the well-to-do and fast-growing Frisco is located off of the Dallas North Tollway offering a viable means of getting to Dallas (some 30 miles south) if necessary.
An alternative to luxury homes and small-town living, DFW also offers historical living in one of many protected conservation districts, which have many wide streets and beautiful, mature vegetation.
Take into consideration the many factors of buying a home, such as real estate loan interest rates, federal and state incentives, and home prices. These three factors draw thousands of people from around the country to DFW every year, even during the long recession period. In addition to a healthy local economy, DFW boasts a great school system and smaller number of risky mortgages making it one of the strongest real estate markets in the country.
