In addition, the Dallas/Fortworth (DFW) area offers an incredible variety of communities in which to live, from newer neighborhoods (Plano, Frisco, Allen) to older, more established neighborhoods (Addison, Carrollton, Richardson) some of which were founded in the 19th Century. With single family homes in Richardson averaging under $200,000, this convenient suburb is an easier entry point to Dallas living than some of the newer developments north of Dallas.
Some cities are not so lucky to have a highway going through it like Richardson has, but they are lucky to have Dallas' light rail system—Dart. One of these is the affluent community of Plano, where many corporations make their headquarters and where Dart transports residents on a 20 mile stress-free commute southbound to downtown Dallas. Other cities, like Frisco, do not boast Dart access, but the well-to-do and fast-growing Frisco is located off of the Dallas North Tollway offering a viable means of getting to Dallas (some 30 miles south) if necessary.
Texas is also a collection of established neighborhoods of older homes with wide streets and mature trees lining several Historic, Conservation Districts protecting the many old homes and history of the Dallas vicinity.
Think about the many market forces at play when deciding the right time to buy a house, such as interest rates, government incentives, and purchase prices. All of these economic factors vary with time, but Dallas has stayed strong, attracting steady growth because of its affordable pricing and low interest rates throughout the area. In addition, DFW is well known for a great school system making family relocation to Texas and Dallas in particular a great advantage.
