Ever since I can remember I have dreamed about designing my dream house. After many years of gruelling labour , I finally managed to save enough cash needed to start such a huge job .There are many things to consider when you try to build a house from scratch. First of all, you have to pick the ideal location, and then you must apply for planning permission. Provided it all runs smoothlyyou’re then ready to hire a building contractor .

There’s lots of building contractors to choose from , and because of the economic crisis a lot of them have been having a tough time of late . House prices have fallen again, and with banks still hesitant to lend, many of us have been forced to rent or lease , as oppose to selling or buying . All of this means that – if you have the funds – now is the optimum time to hire a building contractor.

A typical building contractors will provide a selection of house and land packages, and be able to give a step by step guide of the plans. You’ll also have the added benefit of planing the exact moving in day . 

Before you fall into bed with the first company you stumble across – do some research , ensure the company are clean , so you’re protected!  It’s definitely not a good idea to commit to any contracts until you’ve done this first. The easiest way to get the info you are looking for is online . Have a look at a few testimonials, ask what qualifications they have, and make sure that you read the small print. I’m aware you already know most of what I am writing , and that you’re not going to just rush in, but you wouldn’t believe the number of people that do .

Once I had done my research , I decided to go with a company called Lodge Southern. They came highly recommended, and as well as building homes they were also a laboratory construction and hospital construction company. I am glad to report that all went smoothly , and I can now be found lounging about in my brand new dream home without a care in the world!
